Does anyone know anything more about this conference? We're interested in sending someone from our parish.

Yes. Thursday and Friday are for bishops and clergy only. Friday evening through the Sunday conclusion are open to everyone. This is the first time the Encounter is open to all laity. Theme is deepening spirituality and becoming disciples. Each of the three regional encounters will have excellent speakers, prayer services from various Eastern traditions, meals, hospitality, displays, etc., etc. We hope many of the Eastern traditions will participate so we can get to know each other better. Watch for more information soon.

Thank you both, Joy and Lory, for the information. It will be very interesting to see details as to those presenting when that info becomes available.

Does anyone know who might be contact information for this even or the website? I see that our parish is not listed in the Russian section. Two of our four Russian parishes are listed.
We discussed today in Parish Council who might be able to go from our parish. It looks like our deacon and maybe a couple of parishioners will make it.

Objectives and Impressions for the clergy (Thursday & Friday portions):
Eastern Churches working together - The event was a successful example of cooperation. Ruthenian, Ukrainian, Romanian, Melkite, Maronite, Slovak and Syro-Malabar attended, assisted, spoke and/or organized the event. I hope I didn't miss any Church.
Movement to encourage laity to greater participation, liturgically, administratively, and evangelically. In the clergy session the emphasis was on the eparchial and clerical responsibility to engage increased participation.
Offsite event --- in my session we atended DL at the Ukrainian Cathedral. Their seminary choir chanted a beautiful liturgy.
Introduction/appreciation of different Church/Ethnic celebration of various Divine Praises
Talented presentations by gifted speakers
It was a unique conference, well planned, and edifying. I encourage clergy and laity to register for the remaining eastern and western US conferences.

Ahh jeez, to think I live just down the street from this conference. What's wrong with me for not attending this?!
So I hear you attended a DL at St. Josaphat, Paul B? Wish I could have attended that, but I was busy subbing for the cantor (who had a sore throat) with a DL over at Holy Spirit down the road on W. 54th.
