In your spiritual charity, please offer up a prayer for all of us, your brothers and sisters in Christ, who are in the brunt of this terrible storm--I have yet to experience such strong gusts and the worst is still to come (in about four hours from now and for many hours after that.)
Lord have mercy! All holy Mother of God spread your protective veil over your servants who call upon your name and deliver all of us from all harm and danger. Amen.

Kyrie eleison!
We'll be sleeping on the ground level tonight, as our bedrooms are just too vulnerable to all the big trees around the house. The fierce winds aren't supposed to let up until sometime tomorrow morning.
The boys have been occupied with games and such, but I'm worry that at bedtime, in the silence of the night, the roaring wind will scare them.
Mother of God, protect us and calm our every fear!

Yeah, my cat can be a huge basket case in situations like this. He's always hiding under beds, and when I'm sleeping, I have to be careful...and wow, I actually hear the winds and sheets of rain even with the windows closed. I'm wondering if we'll even have power down at work tomorrow.

No power; no cell phone service; big oak tree down on front lawn, electric wires torn off the house AGAIN (third time in two years!), but WE ARE SAFE!! Thank you God! Others are not as lucky...
(BTW-if you are wondering how I am writing this, I am enjoying some warmth and electricity at my son's...)
Thank you all for prayers...let's keep praying for those who are truly suffering--New Jersey, New York City and Long Island got hit very badly.

Well, we had loads of troubles here in the Cleveland area, too, many power outages, widespread lines down, trees uprooted, flooded and closed roads, etc... In fact, an Orthodox Church here in town actually had part of its tower dome knocked off, and that's when I said "Bozhe, pomiluj nas!" Seems like for a storm to send that kind of message to one of Lord's Houses of Worship, heh... I think Sandy must be working with you know who. Here's an article that explains and shows pictures of damage from our area: http://fox8.com/2012/10/30/photos-superstorm-damage-and-stories/

My section of Maryland got off easy. A few downed trees and flooded roads, but relatively few people in this area lost power, and those who did have it back already. We lost cable and internet for a while, but not power.
The damage in NY/NJ is devastating: I have many dear friends who were evacuated and have not yet been allowed to return to their homes to see what is left.
Continued prayers for those still without power and clean water, for those beginning to rebuild, and -- especially -- for those who are mourning the death of a loved one in this terrible disaster.
