This past April, activists from the Union of Orthodox Banner-Bearers, a lay Russian Orthodox organisation, dispersed a group of Anti Christian protesters gathered in downtown Moscow near the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour by dealing with them in a distinctively brutal and Russian way; by DOUSING THEM WITH HOLY WATER!! http://en.rian.ru/russia/20120429/173127068.html [ Linked Image] The banner reads "Orthodoxy Or Death" in Old Orthography. I have to get me one of these T-Shirts! Alexandr

This picture has to be a joke right? Scowling monks with a chotki on one arm and a dagger on the other?? Where's the joy?

Looking at the pictures of the men at the linked page, what I find funny is that no one seems phased by their dress. Here in America a person dressed like that would automatically be assumed to be anti-Christian --- Christians are expected to be clean-cut and squishy. I guess they ain't kidding when they say Orthodoxy is manly.

They're not monks. The Orthodox Banner Bearers is a lay Orthodox organization, with the goal of putting Orthodoxy first in Russian daily life. The oprichniki dress is just a good way to put the fear of God in the left wing rabble that they oppose.

Who says Christians are supposed to be clean cut and squishy? Not in this neck of the woods!
