Glory to Jesus Christ!
Can someone share a link to the music for the Nativity Fast hymn, "The Ancient Prophecies"?

Thanks,

I've found my own copy of this song, no worries if other can't find it (for the purposes of this weekend, at least)! Blessings to all,

These are the words I recall from memory ... can anyone fill in the blanks?

" He shall be born unto us
and God will be with us
and we shall find him in the cave of Bethlehem."
The ancient prophesies foretold the coming of His birth
of God's annointed Savior who brings peace upon earth refrain 2x
O Star of Bethlehem you shine with brilliance in the sky
to lead us all to God's own Son who will save all mankind refrain 2x
The lowly town of Bethehem in the Judean Hills
will be exalted from on high by God's own gift of love refrain 2x
With jubilation angels sang glad tidings of the birth
proclaiming glory in heaven for God's newborn on Earth. refrain 2x
As xxx shepherds watched their flock these tidings were announced
the saviors born in xxxx town in swaddling clothes he's found refrain 2x
O Magi from the East you bring gold, frankincense, and myhrr
and searching for the newborn king these gifts you now offer refrain 2x

Man, I thought this hymn would have been in the Anthology book of the UGCC, but to no avail. I looked in both Advent Hymns, and Christmas Carols, and I didn't see anything like that.

We sing this every year at Holy Ghost Mckees Rocks since the mid-eighties at least. I think this was from a Rusyn hymn book. My recollection is that the translation was done by Father Russel Duker.

All I have in Rusyn is the refrain.

Naroditsja nam, i budet s'nami boh; i najdem jeho v Viflejemskoj jaslinj.

The full hymn:

The ancient prophecies foretold the coming of the birth of God's anointed savior who brings peace upon earth.

Refrain:
He shall be bron unto us, and god will be with us; and we shall find him in the cave of Bethlehem.

O star of Bethlehem you shine with brilliance in the sky to lead us all to god's own son who will save all mankind.

Refrain:

The lowly town of Bethlehem in the Judean hills will be exalted from above by god's own gift of love.

Refrain:

With jubilation angels sang glad tidings of the birth, proclaiming glory in heaven for god's son born on earth.

Refrain:

As humble shepherds watched their flocks these tidings were announced; the savior's born in David's town in swaddling clothes he's found.

Refrain:

O magi from the east you bring gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And searching for the new-born king these gifts you now offer.

Refrain:

O Joseph, you protect and watch the infant son of god. In solitude you ponder your commitment to our god.

Refrain:

The holy virgin Mary now fulfills the will of god, accepting his divine request to bear the son of god.

Refrain:

Emmanuel, Christ God, the lord is born for us this day. We come now to adore our king this good news we all say:

He has been born for us, and god is now with us; and we have found him in the cave of Bethlehem.

Well, I see a Christmas Carol like that in a Divine Liturgy book circa 1993, but it's titled "God the Lord Eternal (Hospod' Boh Predvicnyj)." Although I doubt that's really the one, but it sounds close.

Ok so I have the whole thing scanned. Not a great copy but quite usable. Problem is it is 2.7M and the limit to upload a document is 1M. Maybe Neil of John can tell me how to do it. Or you can email me at jim@sabyzcath.org and I can email it to you.

Sorry haydukovich but the only slavonic I have is the refrain verse that I posted above.

I learned this from the oral tradition so there is no music either. We pass out typed sheets with the lyrics to sing from with the text above I copied from it.

Where can I post the song? I have it scanned now (and Come O Jesus, Our Savior) and have sent it via e-mail. Let me know and I'll do so.
