Good Evening:

Christ is Born!

I am wondering if any of the members of the Byzantine Forum are at all familiar with the writings of Father Demetrius Wysochansky, OSBM. I believe that he translated a book into English about the Byzantine Divine Liturgy.

Any comments/assistance would be most welcome!

Thank you so much!

John,

Father Demetrius is the Assistant Pastor of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary UGCC parish in Palos Park, IL.

I believe the book to which you refer is likely "The Byzantine Divine Liturgy : History and Commentary", a CUA publication. He also translated a text, published by the Basilian Fathers, titled "A Byzantine Rite Liturgical Year: Part I" - not sure if Part II was ever translated, as I find no references to it on line in an English language version.

A search of his name at the websites of either alibris or abebooks will show copies of both the referenced books to be available, as well as copies of a few other texts that he either wrote or translated.

(His work on St Josaphat has been the subject of some less than edifying debate here in the past - as is invariably the case when any discussion of St Josaphat occurs, which is why it's a subject best left alone.)

Many years,

Neil
