As I have just heard - the death toll is 27 , 18 of them were children.

Lord have mercy !

May all those who are dealing with this in any way receive support .

The death toll is now 28, including 20 children and 6 adults at the school, the shooter, and his mother.

May the memory of those killed be eternal, may the Lord take onto Himself these innocent children and those who cared for and nurtured them, and may they be at rest in a place of peace.

Prayers for the comfort of their families, especially their parents and siblings. Prayers also for the children and teachers who survived, that they be comforted and their emotional wounds be healed. Prayers too for the police, fire, and emergency medical techs, and all who had to respond to and deal with this horror, that their minds and hearts be comforted in the days to come, as they must relive and deal with what they encountered.

We had a Moleben/Paraclisis to the Theotokos last night for this situation and those affected (which is probably every one of us in some emotional way)...

May the Lord comfort in His special way those who are experiencing the most unbearable pain of all pains...the parents of those precious little angels. May He give them the strength to go on.

May the Lord comfort the others who lost a loved one in this horrible tragedy, including the gunman's brother who lost his mother and brother.

May the Lord comfort the community--an idyllic, sleepy small North Eastern suburban community where, like mine, the worst crime the local police usually have to deal with is something small and mundane.

May the Lord help purify the memories of those who survived, children and adults.

Kyrie Eleison!

I'm sure there's going to be Panakhidas for this held across the nation. Check with your local Eparchy to see if one will be held for you to attend. This will certainly be one of the tragic events most prayed for this weekend for sure.

The Lutheran Collect for the Feast of the Holy Innocents seems quite fitting:

We remember today, O God, the slaughter of the holy innocents of Bethlehem by order of King Herod. Receive, we pray, into the arms of your mercy all innocent victims, and by your great might frustrate the designs of evil tyrants and establish your rule of justice, love, and peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Remembering to continuing praying for the family and friends who survive this terrible tragedy and also for the family of the killer. Lord, have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.

Father Anthony said during his homily yesterday at EWTN, this was the same number as the Holy Innocents slain.

God have mercy on all those involved and affected by the totally senseless slaying. For the school as they try to return from Christmas to their daily routines.
For the killers mom!
Lord have mercy on us all, and on the whole world
