My UGCC parish here in Florida will be undergoing a special parish visitation this weekend, ordered by Bishop John. A number of us are on edge about this, since the findings from this visitation could be used as a rationale for closing the parish. Peace, Deacon Richard

Oh boy, and here I was thinking the UGCC was steady and strong compared to other Byzantine Rite Churches... I pray that things will go well, and that you will be able to reclaim some vibrancy and attendance, and evangelization of your parish, and keep it alive. I'm not far away from the Cathedral and head of the Eparchy of St. Josaphat, so I'm sure that Bishop John Bura will come around, and make sure that things are safe for you.

By the way, the UGCC Parish in question wouldn't happen to be this one. [ youtube.com] Would it?

Prayers for your parish's strength, vibrancy, and that God grant it many years.

Thanks for all your prayers. The visitation was on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with the main event being a general meeting of the parish on Saturday. Everything went smoothly and uneventfully.
The impression I got was that word had somehow gotten back to Bishop John that we were an uncooperative and contentious lot (which, if verified, would have meant it was a waste of time to send us a new priest), and this visitation would serve to prove or disprove these rumors. I think it was shown reasonably well that we were not.
What remains now is for a new priest to be assigned for us, and for that we continue to pray. Thanks again for all the prayers!
Peace, Deacon Richard

"An uncooperative and contentious lot" includes most of the Church, most likely. May your parish have many more blessed years! Your brother in Christ, Fr Deacon Paul
