Dear Forum Members,
Slava Esusu Khrystu!

Does anyone know if the canonization of the Royal New Martyrs by the Moscow Patriarchate is available anywhere online for viewing?
Thank you!

They were not canonised as martyrs- they are passion bearers. They were not killed for being Orthodox but for being the imperial family. Their passion bearer status reflected the way they bore their torments from the communist captors.

John

ROCOR canonized them as martyrs, Moscow and the rest canonized them as passion bearers. With the loss of evidence and deaths of so many witnesses, the truth will forever be questioned.

Here is some information on the canonization:

http://www.serfes.org/royal/holycanonization.htm

Really nice site I found looking for you, it is called 'Royal Russia':

From Wikipedia:

Despite their official designation as "passion-bearers" by the August 2000 Council, they are nevertheless spoken of as "martyrs" in Church publications, icons, and in popular veneration by the people.[3][4]

A Russian Moment No. 1
Topic: A Russian Moment

This week's Russian Moment shows snow falling on the Church on the Blood in Ekaterinburg. Built on the site of the former Ipatiev House (also known as the House of Special Purpose), it is the spot where Tsar Nicholas II and his family were all murdered in the early morning hours of July 17, 1918.

Surrounding the church are large images of members of the Russian Imperial family, including grand dukes and grand duchesses who perished during the Red Terror that swept across the former Russian Empire following the Russian Revolution.
