Glory to Jesus Christ!
For the moment I am in Atlanta, and noticing these Soul Saturdays I wanted to observe one by visiting the cemetery here where my grandfather is buried as well as some RC priests from my childhood.
What is an appropriate sort of prayer for this? Can one pray the panachyda without a priest?

Short prayers from the Panahida:
With the spirits of the righteous give rest, O Savior, to the souls of Thy departed servants and keep them in the blessed life with Thee, O Lover of man. In the place of Thy rest, O Lord, where all Thy Saints repose give rest also to the souls of Thy servants for Thou alone art the Lover of men.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit: Thou art the God Who descended to hell and loosed the chains of the captives. Give rest, O Lord, to the souls of Thy servants.
Now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen: O only pure and immaculate Virgin, who without seed didst bear God, pray to Him that their souls may be saved.
O God of spirits and of all flesh, Who hast trampled down death, defeated the devil, and given life to Thy world. Give rest, O Lord, to the soul(s) of, in a place of light, in place of green pasture, in a place of revival, whence all pain, sorrow and sighing have fled away. Forgive every sin committed by him (them), in thought, word and deed, in Thy goodness and love for men, O God. For there is no one who lives without sinning: Thou alone art without sin, and Thy justice is eternal justice, and Thy Word in Truth.
For Thou art the Resurrection, the Life, and the Repose of Thy departed servant(s), O Christ our God, and to Thee we send up glory, with Thy Eternal Father, and Thy all-holy and good and life-giving Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages.

LITTLE PANIKHIDA (WITHOUT A PRIEST)
Through the prayers of our Holy Fathers, Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy upon us. Amen.
Troparion, Tone 2: Remember, O Lord Thy servants, for Thou art good, and forgive them whatsoever sins they have committed in life; for none is sinless but Thee Who art able to give repose unto them that are departed.
Troparion, Tone 8: O Thou Who in the depths of wisdom orderest all things with love toward man; Who grantest to all men that which is for their benefit; Thou only Creator, grant rest, O Lord, to the souls of Thy departed servants, for in Thee have they put their hope, our Maker and Fashioner an our God.
Glory.
Kontakion, Tone 8: With the saints give rest, O Christ, to the souls of Thy servants, where there is neither sickness, nor sorrow, nor sighing, but life eternal.
Now and ever.
Theotokion: Thee have we as a wall and refuge, and a Mediatrix well-pleasing to God Whom thou hast borne, O Theotokos unwedded, salvation of the faithful.
Lord have mercy. 40 times.
Remember, O Lord, our fathers and brethren who fell asleep in the hope of resurrection unto life eternal, and all those who ended this life in piety and faith, and pardon them every transgression which they have willingly or unwillingly, in word or deed or thought committed, and settle them in a place of light, a place of refreshment, a place of repose, wherefrom every sickness, sorrow and sighing are banished, and wherein from eternity the light of Thy countenance shineth and gladdeneth all Thy saints. Grant unto them and unto us Thy kingdom, and participation in Thine ineffable blessings, and the enjoyment of Thine endless and blessed life. For Thou art the life, and the resurrection, and the repose of Thy departed servants, O Christ our God, and to Thee we send up glory, with Thine unoriginate Father, and Thy most holy and good and life-creating Spirit, now and ever, and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
More honourable than the cherubim. (bow)
Glory; (bow)
Now and ever. (bow)
Lord have mercy, twice , Lord, bless.
And the dismissal:
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, through the prayers of Thy most pure Mother, of our venerable and God-bearing fathers and of all Thy Saints, have mercy and grant rest to the soul of Thy servants NN. unto endless life, for Thou art good and lovest mankind.
And we sing: Amen
To the servants of God NN departed this life: Eternal memory. Thrice
Then, this troparion:
Grant rest, O Lord, to the soul of Thy departed servants NN(bow) Forgive and have mercy upon them, for whatever sins they have humanly committed, for Thou art a God Who lovest mankind. (bow) And deliver them from eternal torment. (bow) Make them sharers in the Kingdom of Heaven.(bow) And do whatever is profitable for our souls. (bow)
We say this troparion thrice, with 15 bows.
