Does anyone ever get greeted like that in our Byzcath churches?

Every single Ruthenian church I've attended.

And priests I've met once at them recognized and greeted me at my own parish.

Same here. Ruthenian Churches certainly treat you like you're really part of a huge family. The UGCC on the other hand, well...the clergy might be friendly, but unless you are blood Ukrainian, heh...yeah.

I just wanted to share that I had what was probably the warmest welcome I've ever received in any Catholic Church a few weeks back at a nearby Ruthenian parish. It was a tiny community by Roman standards, but pretty big for the family that it seemed to be. I was invited to join them after mass for a light dinner in their hall--they really insisted.
I felt as if I were some visiting cousin that they had never met. They seemed genuinely thrilled I was there.
