Let us be reminded that the essence of who we are is the Body of Christ.

If you have built your entire identity and social life around a bleeding, festering and painful wound on this Body, and the fact that this wound is finally healing, the bleeding has stopped, the pus is gone, new healthy skin is forming, it probably hurts a lot less, and the whole thing is about to go away and be forgotten, makes you very upset - there's a problem.

I don't know if this comment is meant for the ROCOR discussants but it is advice that would well serve a number of commentators on this forum.

Again, I remind you that an understanding of this statement would be lost on anyone outside of ROCOR. The history and struggle of ROCOR is a long and deeply troubling one.

To anyone in the MP, ROCOR is nothing more than a footnote in its history.

ROCOR is outside of Russia, and the rest of the world is outside of ROCOR... Perhaps the thread should have been entitled "For ROCOR members only" to begin with.

Why should it be more? The MP survived Lenin, Stalin and the rest of the Bolsheviks. Not ROCOR.

Perhaps you would do well to actually study the history of ROCOR before you spout off such nonsense.

One way or another, oh wisest IAlmisry (I am still knocked out by your posts in my recent thread), plenty of persistent and admirable effort was put into the unification on both sides. Let us rejoice that this milestone, that once seemed as impossible as the breakdown of the Soviet Union itself, has been reached, and let us continue praying that Christians worldwide will continue moving in the direction of unification on a global scale. In the face of ever-spreading secularism, what we need more than anything is to join our countering efforts.

Locally speaking, in my area, all OCA and Russian Orthodox priests know one another, work closely with one another, joint services take place all the time especially during Lent, and glory to God for that. I do recall an occasion when I went to my local NovoDiveevo Convent (ROCOR) and when I told them what parish I was from I got a "Oh, an MP church?" for an answer, to which I answered with a bright smile and beaming face - "Yeah - we're united now!" and the topic went no further. :-)))
as it should be.

But, this answer came from one of the sisters, while clergy from the same monastery routinely participate in joint services and I probably would not any negativity from any of them. In fact, I met a few Orthodox priests from my area, and they all cooperate admirably.

Btw, on this note is an interesting video on a most interesting exhibit:
Revival of Orthodoxy In Russia (Exhibition in Moscow)

The icon at the opening is the Tikhvin Mother of God, which had been guarded at Holy Trinity Cathedral (OCA) in Chicago after WWII.
