Hmm... True. Although I will point out that out of the main Byzantine traditions, it does seem that the Ruthenian Church is certainly the easiest of the Eastern Catholic Churches one can join without canonically converting right away. I mean, sure, if you become a parishioner, and have been there long enough, you'd have to convert your Rite to Byzantine Catholic eventually, but at least you can fully participate in the common Liturgical Mysteries if you so chose to. It's the more advanced ones like marriage, and ordination, as well as funerals that you might run into problems. Other than that, just as long as you feel comfortable with the tradition, by all means, be in the communion line, go to the icon of Jesus for confession, be anointed during Mirovanije, whatever.

Also, here's an interesting read that I googled up, and it explains some growing trends of those that are making the switch in canonical positions. It seems like with the New Roman Missal and everything else, I can see why there are many like you and myself that are doing this: http://www.reginadoman.com/main.cfm...amp;r3=0&r4=0&level=1&eid=90

To me, the New Roman Mass almost makes part of the Mass sound nearly identical to the responses and the priest prayers of the Byzantine Rite, more or less... I know when I was serving as an altar boy back in the early '90s in the Ruthenian Church, then after hearing the New Roman Missal, I thought..."wow, these new responses and prayers sound awfully familiar" and sure enough. Although, little did I know about the RDL of 2007, but it still does sound fairly similar.
