First of May, isn't that Old Calendar April Fools? Well, in the Socialist/Communist world, it is May Day, which might be styled "fool the proletariat day".  A Byzantine Cross on top of the needle is a grand idea.

Hehe. Maybe we'll turn the Jefferson Memorial into some Greek Orthodox Church of sorts. Paint the dome on it to a nice, shiny gold, then decorate the insides with icons and murals, and have a nice altar and iconostasis in there, and it'll be fantastic.
