I watched this video on youtube of the Divine Liturgy of St. James done in the Greek Orthodox Church in Amman, Jordan.

Is this normal to have the celebrant face towards the people during the Liturgy of St. James or is this some type of liturgical abuse? If this is the way it is supposed to be celebrated, what is the reasoning for the Bishop to faceing towards the people?

It also seems to be Served outside the Iconostasis - perhaps it was done as a method of teaching this Liturgy .

The EO usually don't allow OO to use their altars, they do allow them - with the Bishop's permission - to use their Church. They tend to manage by putting a table in front of the Iconostas.

Catholics have no problem with EO or OO using their altars.

According to the Arabic text, this is the Divine Liturgy of St. James, Brother of the Lord, from the Greek Orthodox Church of the Entry of the Lord into the Temple in al-Suwayfiyyah (Sweifieh) in Amman, Jordan.

Maybe they weren't comfortable with a cameraman in the sanctuary? Just a raw guess.

Why it's facing west I wouldn't even have a guess.
