What if an Eparchy held a meeting for lay people to share their dreams for the Church and its growth and its authenticity. What would be some of the topics we should discuss?

In response to Patriarch +Sviatoslav's "The Vibrant Parish: A Place to Encounter the Living Christ" our UGCC Eparchies will each be having their own Eparchial Sobor made of clergy and laity. The Eparchy of Stamford's is the first this April. The lay delegates have been preparing for months. http://stamforddio.org/wa_files/eparchial_20sobor_20schedule_20corrected.pdf

I'm happy to see this for the UGCC. I know that there is a meeting of clergy for the Byzantines this spring and have heard of one for laity for this fall. I don't know why they don't call it a Sobor or why clergy and laity don't meet together but am glad to hear rumors of the meetings. Does anyone know anything about these meetings?

Carson Daniel:

Christ is Risen!!

If that ever happened in a Latin diocese, I don't know how people would react. After all, we're not smart or spiritual enough to have hopes and dreams for the Church. I know I'd be shocked speechless.

I was at the meeting for my local deanery. There was a presentation which lasted 45min-1 hour followed by a discussion group on things that we could do to improve attitudes amongst current parishioners as well as bring in new parishioners and create a "Vibrant Parish". The presentation was very well done. We then were given time to write our own ideas down and provide them to the priest giving the presentation.

All in all it was a very enjoyable experience.

A call was once made by a layman to an Eparchial Chancery to discuss an church issue of concern to the caller. He was told, "The bishop does not speak to ordinary people".
