Dear Friends,

I'm going home this weekend for Mother's Day and my grandfather's 78th birthday.

He is diabetic, and not in the best of shape. He's nearly blind and nearly deaf. However, the doctors have determined he has hydrocephalus, i.e. he has fluid built up inside his skull.

He will undergo surgery to remove the excess water, and the doctors (and my long-suffering grandmother who is his 24/7 nursemaid) are hopeful it can improve his condition. My grandmother is very excited, but I am somewhat apprehensive. To undergo surgery at his age and with diabetes is ... worrisome to me, to say the least.

Please pray for my grandfather DOYLE, that his surgery goes well, and that it might result in some relief for him and my grandmother.

In Christ,
Garrett

Merciful Lord, visit us in our time of need and affliction; and as you healed Jairus' daughter and raised her from her bed of infirmity, visit your servant, Master, and deliver Doyle from sickness and pain. Renew his grandmothers strength. Restore them as in days of old. For you alone have born the sickness and affliction of our world and with you nothing is impossible. For you are all-merciful and to you we ascribe glory and adoration forever. Amen

Prayers for Doyle, grandfather of our dear friend and brother, Garrett, that the Unmercenary Physicians, Cosmas and Damien, guide the hands of Doyle's physicians during surgery and that he be relieved of his affliction. Prayers also for his wife that she be given the strength to see this through and that burdens be lifted from her.
