Slovakia is one of several countries issuing stamps to commemorate the 1150 anniversary of the arrival of Cyril and Methodius in Great Moravia.

The Orthodox Church there has also glorified St Rostislav, the king who received Sts Cyril and Methodius there.

They also venerate their five disciples: Sts. Angelar, Gorazd, Nahum, Sava and Clement (together the "Holy Seven Saints").

And they glorified St Gorazd, the bishop who was martyred by the Nazis for harbouring Czech insurgents (and who himself received the name of one of the Cyrillo-Methodian group of Saints).

In the Czech Republic, July 5th and the 6th are holidays. The first commemorates Sts Cyril and Methodius and the second commemorates Jan Hus who has always been seen by them (and others) as someone who tried to turn back to the Cyrillo-Methodian heritage.
