This Friday, June 28, at 7:00 pm, a vigil service will be hosted by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sacramento and the Greek Orthodox Church for the kidnapped metropolitans of Aleppo in Syria and all other people who suffer for the Churches of Syria and the Middle East. All are invited to attend and pray for the suffering people of the Middle East. The service will be held at:

St. Anthony Parish

Our parish (Holy Wisdom Eastern Catholic Parish) will attend the vigil. Please join us if you can. The diocesan announcement is here: http://www.diocese-sacramento.org/

It's on the liturgical calendar but it's not a day of obligation for Latin Catholics in the United States.

Lena, I think I'll be there. They do this every year, but I haven't made it yet. I think this will be there year. I wonder why they're having it at St. Anthony. Isn't is usually at the Cathedral? Also, doesn't the Bishop usually attend vespers at Annunciation Greek Orthodox church as well? I haven't seen that advertised yet.

Hi Elizabeth, we are hoping to go as well. It will be nice to catch up if we can. I'm not exactly sure why they're having it at St. Anthony, especially considering that the location isn't nearly as convenient for most people compared to the Cathedral. However, the parking is free and abundant, which is always a plus in my book!
