In Indonesia, the Catholics who have known the Eastern Churches, concern so much about the Christians suffering in the Middle East. Now, this news is on the spot of forums.
This news is taken from an Islamist website :
http://www.intifada-palestine.com/2013/06/bishops-2/
dated 27 June 2013, and then updated 29 June 2013

Well, you all have already known well that Syria is so complex :
"US, Sunni, Arab nations, Al Qaeda" VS "Russia, Shia and Alawite, Lebanon, Hezbollah"

And you all have already known well that US send weapons to support the opposition militants, and unfortunately those militants are the one who persecute Christians now. I can not do anything since i am not an American citizen.

You may find all the links there.

UPDATE: Syrian Catholic Priest was beheaded by Syrian opposition.

OB

Update: June 29, 2013

According to unconfirmed reports, the incident involves a Syrian Catholic priest Father François Murad 49, and two of his assistants. although other reports claim he’d been shot dead in an assault on a monastery in Ghassanieh, a predominantly Christian village in the district of Jisr al-Shughur in the province of Idlib, near the border with Turkey. Vatican Radio also reports that Father Francois was killed at the monastery.Intifada Palestine cannot officially confirm that the persons beheaded are Father Francois Murad and his two assistants. There are conflicting reports regarding the identity of the persons beheaded. We will update article as soon as we have official confirmation.

The monastery in which Father Francios Murad resided was burnt and looted, echoing the events of a massacre in Homs last month which resulted in the entire population of a Christian village being wiped out and their houses and possessions burnt. Two Syrian Orthodox Archbishops Johanna Ibrahim and Boulos Yazigi were kidnapped by Chechen gunmen in Aleppo earlier this year, are still missing.

In March, a Muslim cleric was beheaded in Syria’s northern city of Aleppo by militants, who decapitated Sheikh Hassan Saif al-Deen before dragging his lifeless body on the streets.Local media blamed the beheading on the al-Qaeda-linked al-Nusra.

Foreign-sponsored militancy in Syria, which erupted in March 2011, has claimed the lives of many people, including large numbers of Syrian soldiers and security personnel. The Al Qaeda linked al-Nusra Front has been behind many of the deadly bombings targeting both civilians and government institutions across Syria since the beginning of the violence.

The three persons were brutally executed – beheaded with a small combat knife. Echoing previous beheading recorded by insurgents, the head is held up to the cheers of onlookers and then placed on the body.

As well as Christians, Shia villages are receiving the brunt of a boldly-confident insurgency. This newly-found confidence has resulted in having just recently received confirmation of America’s intent to supply the rebel fighters with more weapons. Last week, militants massacred dozens of villagers in the province’s town of Hatla. Since then, summary executions and sectarian house-to-house raids have taken place.

This month has seen an escalation in sectarian atrocities committed by insurgents, who have been publicly armed and supported by America, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey and other actors. Indeed, the atrocities are coinciding with further arms transfers – with new advanced weaponry witnessed in the hands of militants in the past number of weeks.

The most recent beheading recorded on video and uploaded to the internet, reportedly took place in Idlib countryside.

The reported beheading of the three Christians comes about the same time America has started sending arms to rebel fighters, the Wall Street Journal revealed this week. The Journal reported the Central Intelligence Agency just began transporting weapons to Jordan for eventual transfer to Syrian fighters.

The weapons transfer is aimed at helping Free Syrian forces oust Syria’s President Bashar al- Assad. It’s scheduled to coincide with arms shipments from other European and Arab allies for a planned and coordinated rebel attack set for August, the Journal reported.

Abouna received an email saying that it was the Syrian Orthodox Bishop and his assistant who were beheaded. The Greek Orthodox Bishop is still alive.

Kyrie eleison.

Now we all know how the Roman citizen felt watching people of God being butchered without lifting a finger to stop it.

Here's a picture of US Sen. John McCain posing with rebel kidnappers in Syria last Memorial Day.

God forgive us. Holy new martyr Francois, forgive us and pray for us.

Do we have two beheading incidents or just one?

And who is it--the Syriac Catholic priest or the Syriac Orthodox archbishop kidnapped in mid May?

I'm confused.

The Franciscans insist that the bishop was shot, not beheaded.

Ok, that doesn't change anything besides the way he was martyred, by a group that we are supporting with funds (and some want us to support with weapons.)

As a newby, I am unfamiliar with lots of expressions. Does this mean "Lord have mercy?".

May Our Lord Jesus grant us the grace to persevere through martyrdom, if that is our calling. Theotokos, pray for us!!
