Good Evening All, I was wondering is there a Byzantine group that i can join in Maryland? Our Byzantine Church is pretty strong and kind of small. I would like to meet more people brought up with the same backround. Thank you, Kklcz

May I also add I did check the internet, but was unsuccessful. Sometimes "word of mouth" is better. Thanks again everyone. Kklcz

Hi, I don't know of any group, but I am also in MD (Lexington Park, about 1.5hrs south of Annapolis) We don't have any parish here, the closest is St. Gregory of Nyssa in Beltsville, 1.5-2 hours away, where I was baptized. I'd be interested if you found such a group : )

Like happycrabmearii, I don't know of any.
(When I saw the thread title, I thought this would be a thread from someone in an area without a Byzantine Catholic parish, who was looking to start a "Byzantine club" as a first step toward getting a parish in the area.)

Well, as I heard a Byzantine Catholic Deacon in my area homilize once, as in the movie Field of Dreams, "Build it and they will come." So if you can build up enough interest, and find others who are Byzantine Catholic in your area, or those who are of any Catholic faith, whether Roman or other Eastern Catholics, find if they have interest in that tradition, and get some clergy involved, and hope to have at least a mission, if not a church built in your area. Maryland is in the Eparchy of Passaic, I assume, so you'd might want to check with Metropolitan William Skurla to see how you can get involved.

Happy Thursday, Once i find/start a group I will notify you. Our parish is located in Arbutus (Patronage Mother Of God). Another member gave a great idea of starting it ourselves. I will keep All informed. Thank you everyone for your input. Kklc

Glory to Jesus Christ!
May God grace you and the inspiration that he has shared with you. You may want to try a "Maryland Byzanteens" facebook page (or any other name you may want.) I suggest you check out Byzanteens" on facebook and begin conversing on it. The moderator would be delighted to see some renewed interest and it can give you some experience regarding both the benefits and difficulties that you should expect.
If you start with an internet experience it should make a physical organization much easier.

Are there any groups or individual Eastern Catholics in the West Monroe/Monroe Louisiana area?

Good Afternoon Michael, i believe there is a St. Nicholas of Myra in New Orleans and a Melkite mission church in that area as well. Please check the Byzcath.rg directory, that may give you more locations. I hope this helps. Thank you, Kklcz-
