Wise words from the Bishop of Rome: "Pope Francis called Sunday for the world to unite in a day of fasting and prayer for Syria and said "God and history" would judge anyone using chemical weapons."
http://news.yahoo.com/pope-announces-world-prayer-day-syria-111842329.html

May all God-fearing Bishops and Patriarchs, regardless of their being under his jurisdiction or of the Orthodox, join in his call for prayer and in his comments regarding the judgement of history on the use of chemical weapons.

[i][Noting Mary’s universal motherly concern, Pope Francis said, “Let us ask Mary to help us to respond to violence, to conflict and to war, with the power of dialogue, reconciliation and love. She is our mother: may she help us to find peace; all of us are her children!”
As he has done on previous Sundays, Pope Francis led the crowds in invoking her intercession: “Mary, Queen of Peace, pray for us!”

It is so strange that Syria government was the one who used chemical weapon. Of course they know well that if they use chemical weapon which killed so many people (a thousand) it will be like giving a justification to do military invasion. Are they really stupid not to anticipate the consequence by doinh it?? Of course they know and they will not do it.

But as we all know, the media covered incompletely.
And, as the history usually repeat and repeat again, it seems that military invasion might take place again like in Iraq. What has striked the Chaldean Christians will strike the Christians in Syria : military invasion in the name of human right by destroying others human rights.

Lord, please have mercy! Not another bombbardment. Let us pray that this will not come to pass. Nothing is impossible with God and He surely can intervene somehow.

Please, God, peace as we repent on behalf of unwise and untimely decisions to attack so many people including innocent children in the last decade. History doesn't have to repeat itself. Will we never learn from our mistakes. Let us join Pope Francis in prayer on Sept 7.

Has a specific day been announced?

If not it would seem that the strict fast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (September 14) would be fittingly dedicated to peace in the whole world and Syria and Egypt it particular.

My new parish is having a supplication service to our blessed Mother of God tonight with the intention of peace in Syria and the world.

May it be so. Amen.

Father Thomas, the eve of the Birth of the Theotokos, September 7, has been set aside as a day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria.
