David Balok, O.Carm fell asleep in the Lord earlier this afternoon. He had not posted much here since entering the Carmelites, but many here will remember him. Please lift him up in prayer, that the Lord will remember him eternally.
O God of spirits and of all flesh, Who have trampled death and overthrown the devil, and granted life to Your world; now, O Lord, give rest to the soul of Your servant, David, in a place of light, a place of green pasture, a place of refreshment, whence all pain, sorrow, and sighing have fled away.
O God, as You are good and the Lover of Mankind, forgive every sin committed by David, in word or deed or thought, for there is no man who lives and who does not sin. For You alone are without sin, Your righteousness is everlasting righteousness, and Your word is truth.
For You are the resurrection and the life, O Christ our God, and to You we send up glory, together with Your Father, Who is without beginning, and Your all-holy, good, and life-creating Spirit, now and ever, and to the ages of ages. Amen.
Eternal Memory. Vičnaja jemu pamjat!

May the memory of Brother David be eternal.
So sad-- If I am not mistaken, he was on the young side.

Eternal Memory!
Yes, Alice, Br. David was on the young side. He was with us for a year or two at my former Byzantine Catholic parish in Tucson, as he'd been assigned to teach for a short period of time at one of the Catholic high schools in Tucson. When he started coming to our parish, he was in his early 40s (43?), and I'm guessing that was about 3-4 years ago. We were all very fond of him, and sorry to see him go when he was sent back to DC to continue his education.

Eternal memory to Brother David of Mount Carmel!
He was ill for the longest time.
May Our Lady of Mount Carmel take our friend and brother before the throne of her Divine Son, cover him with her mantle of protection and bring him to eternal glory in the Kingdom of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit!
Alex

David posted here for many years as 'DavidB, the Byzantine Catholic' before he entered Carmel and changed his nick. He was Ruthenian by heritage but spent a number of years as a parishioner of St Nicholas (Melkite) Church in Rochester, NY. As Alex said, he had been quite ill these last several years and suffered a great deal, but was steadfast in pursuit of his vocation.
O God of spirits and of all flesh, Who have trampled death, and overthrown the devil, and granted life to Your world; now, O Lord, give rest to the soul of Your servant, Brother David, who has fallen asleep, in a place of light, a place of green pasture, a place of refreshment, where there is neither pain nor sorrow nor sighing, but only life everlasting.
O God, You Who are good and the Lover of Mankind, forgive every sin committed by him, in word or deed or thought, for there is no man who lives and who does not sin. For You alone are without sin and You are the resurrection and the life.
May the memory of our friend and brother be eternal!

I've posted a photo of David in the Gallery. It was taken on the occasion of him professing his Solemn Final Vows.
