Do you feel the same way about Moscow's receiving autocephaly from Constantinople five centuries ago? Or O.C.A. from Moscow in the last century? Isn't it the case that at a certain point a Local Church attains such a state of maturity that it merits autonomy (as the Church in Japan) or autocephaly? Ukraine is an independent nation now. It's Churches are marked by a thriving monasticism, a well-spring of vocations to the diaconate and priesthood -- this latter alone would be enough to make Moscow reluctant to release the cradle of its historic and, indeed, present existence. But it is past time to overcome that reluctance and to help her mother church recover its shattered unity: let's pray for one Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Myself, I would love to see former Patriarch Lyubomir's vision of double communion according to the Zoghby Initiative a reality. If ever it were possible, it is so now with Pope Francis!

Should Moscow release the Ukrainian church, just how much money would the Russian Orthodox church lose!!!!!!!!!! What properties from the forced and illegal union with Moscow, would have to be returned to the Ukrainian church, Orthodox or Greek Catholic.

Thank you Ot'ets Nastoiatel. You have hit the nail on the head as we say.

For many this is Christmas Eve and here I am becoming upset. Forgive me Oh Lord.

З Рідвом Христовим вітаємо усіх наших друзів, які святкують цей празник за новим календарем! (Merry Christmas to all of our friends celebrating on December 25th!)
