Alexandr:

Christ is Born!

I read this account once before and it is truly moving. It reminds me of the account--I believe posted here--of the early attempts by the Soviets to stamp out religion. They asked for anyone who wanted to say anything (on Pascha morning) and an elderly man went up and shouted "Christ is Risen." He then repeated it until he received one response, then another, and finally the whole group was singing "Christ is Risen." The Soviets gave up.

People who have survived these horrors are usually those who have something--actually Someone--to hold onto. Obviously they did.

Excellent article--good blog site.

There are some stunning pictures of the (old calendar) Nativity celebration at the Chicago Serbian Orthodox Cathedral.
