It sounds like they did a search and replace for "man" and "mankind" and replaced them with "us" and similar words. Borderline heresy.

I haven't seen the music but our priest says it further vocally disenfranchises the people. The teal terror is hard to sing takes away the fun of singing at the liturgy. The funeral doubles down on bad music. I just can't understand why the basic rules of grammar and singable music were ignored.

The Revised Liturgy has hurt so many people. Why are the bishops hurting so many people? Haven't our people suffered enough already?

I'm not personally familiar with the now-infamous RDL (aka, as I understand it, the "Teal Terror") so I really don't know how horrible it is, but I can say this: it cannot be worse than what the Maronites have. mad We have all the politically correct garbage, plus the neo-whatever version of Scripture (i.e, whatever is in in vogue with the USCCB), plus the texts themselves (and I mean, at least in part, even the ancient Syriac texts) have not only been abridged but have also been purposefully adulterated. And yes, not to be outdone by anyone else, we have a severely adulterated version of the funeral rites to contend with as well.

Our so-called "liturgical commission" is most likely worse than anything you could imagine. IOW, what we have is Novus Ordo-inspired neo-latinization in spades. In short, count your blessings. If "gender neutral" were my biggest worry, it'd be a day at the beach. frown

One feature of the "Revised" Maronite Qurbono that I find very odd: though they have restored to use several Anaphoras, they print the same Institution Narrative in all of them (in Aramaic and in English) despite the fact that they differ in the original sources. When I asked why this was, I got the usual clerical doublespeak: it would confuse the people. What I surmise is that the present crop of Maronite clergy is so innocent of Aramaic that they can only learn one and the same Institution formula. It's not the people's confusion, it is the priests'!

It's not exactly that, although that is part of it. The other part is for the purpose of concelebration and the use of a "standard" tune for the Institution Narrative. What was initially suggested was to retain both the particular Institution Narrative for each Anaphora along with the "standard" text. Which was used would depend on the celebrant except in the case of concelebration. But, as with most things (yeah, OK, it was everything), the Novus Ordo-inspired revisionists won out and thus we have the artificial (which, BTW, is itself an innovation, meaning that it was recently composed and does not come from any particular Anaphora) innovative text exclusively.

I didn't know about the liturgical problems in the Maronite Church. I'm sorry. I just don't understand why our respective bishops hate our respective liturgies. All they do in the end is hurt people and chase them away. I can only conclude that that is their intention, so they can go and become the RCs they aspire to be.

For some bishops, not all, there is a "careerism" mentality, which makes them feel that they need some defining mark(s) on their term as bishops; this is present in the West. Some even miss good chances to improve dioceses in hopes they will become (Arch)-bishops, and maybe even Cardinals. Vocations are the bottom line, and are bought at all costs to them. The less they are known as "traditional" means the better the chance to be promoted. Fortunately, there are good bishops in the West who do not have this mentality.

My assumption is that some bishops in the East are falling to this mindset, who do not want to be RC's, but who desire to please their Western counterparts. So long as the EF of the Latin Rite, traditional Byzantine Liturgical practice, and other Eastern Rite Liturgies exist untarnished there is living evidence that the modernist liturgical practices and mindset in the West are bogus/nearly heretical. Unfortunately, in this careerism attitude the laity are their pawns, as it seems some what is happening to you dear brethren in the Eastern Catholic Church.

I am considered a radical in most Latin Rite parishes because I kneel to receive Holy Communion, and as long as this practice in not normative, I will be considered radical. I pray ardently that you in the Eastern Catholic World will never experience this reality due to sticking close to your traditional Liturgical Practices.
