I don't know about the Southern Baptist convention, but I doubt the Catholic church has ever said that. I know that the Orthodox have never said that, and I presume that the same historical precedent given by my church is the same as that of the Catholic church.

What disturbs me most about American presidents and foreign policy, is their blatant ignorance of history and the role it plays in the world.

Alice -- No one should be surprised by anything that Jimmy Carter says. This is a president who claims to be "Christian" and yet supported "abortion rights" and (if I understand correctly) is highly sympathetic to "gay marriage."

Good point! I used to think President Carter was the worst president I had ever seen. The current occupant of the White House is causing me to change my mind on that. Maybe President Carter was second worst.
