To all the scholarly folderol on the supposed Apostolic origins of priestly celibacy (surely 'continence' is the word they mean) I oppose the living and unbroken Tradition of the Church. There has never been a time when the Church lacked for married priests living full married lives with their wives. In the second millennium most (but not all) of these were found in the Eastern Churches. Even to this day, on the North American continent despite the ham-handed attempts of the Latins the married Eastern Catholic clergy outnumber the celibate. Recent developments suggest that this trend is far from abating. Sorry, really got to get ready for the Great Canon now!
