Dear Byzantine Forum users.

I have not posted here for a very long while.

Things have been going great for myself and my family thank God.

I feel I must make this post in light of the current situation in my motherland Ukraine.

I have been watching what is happening with pain in my heart and tears in my eyes.

I have seen a nation rise up against the corruption of a Moscow puppet Yanekuvitch who systematically oppressed and robbed our people.

I have seen the youth of Ukraine spill their blood on Maidan.

I have seen the overthrow of tyranny as Ukraine got up from her knees.

But alas, this was not the end.

The annexation of Crimea by the aggressive neo-Communist Russia. The invasion and undeclared war in Eastern Ukraine. Finally the latest invasion of my country. I can no longer remain silent and must speak out at least as it pertains to my previous feelings and statements.

I can no longer in any way form or shape excuse the actions of the Moscow Patriarchate. The current aggression is fully supported and blessed by most of their clergy including the Patriarch of Moscow. It is with great sadness that I must admit that the Russian Church is nothing but an arm of the Kremlin which seeks to not only destroy Ukraine as an independent nation but reestablish a Soviet Union 2.0 of sorts on the blood and bones of innocent people.

I humbly apologize all who have I have offended by my comments 5-6 years ago made still as a subdeacon.

I guess I was naive and could not believe that men of God in the Russian Church could stoop this low.

This is a link to some remarks made by me in Syracuse NY at the Ukrainian flag raising for our countries independence day.

Sorry about the quality, recording was made by an 8 year old. smile

Bless, Father,

Glad to see you back with us, even if it was prompted by such a sad situation.

Many years,

Neil

PS - Kudos to your little girl - she did a pretty good recording for an 8 year old biggrin

Heroyam Slava, Otche!!

I am praying the Psalter and Akathists almost non-stop - many more than I am ever used to, for Ukraine and its people. Also, for the Baltic peoples, Poland and others who will be next.

At a time like this, I feel like the Apostle Thomas in the sense that perhaps we should go to Ukraine to die with everyone else. frown

Kissing your right hand, I implore your blessing,

Alex

It's a shame to see men of God following blindly the secular nationalist impulse of their government. Too often both Catholic and Orthodox clergy have found themselves enmeshed not in the ways of God, but the ways of man.

What they are doing does not glorify God, and it does not represent Orthodoxy. May God help Ukraine and all peace-loving people.

Thank you guys for your words. God Bless. In the end truth will prevail because God is Love and Truth and He can not stand deceit, hatred and evil.

Bless Father!

When this has all passed, on a lighter note, you should have a blog entitled, "Father Borislav Smiyetsia . . ."

OK, I'll get back to my prayers . . .

Kissing your right hand, I again implore your blessing,

Alex
