In your charity, please remember my dear cousin, Janice.

Janice is only 58 but has had a hard life, physically. For the past two decades, she has suffered, quietly and without complaint, from a serious form of muscular dystrophy, complicated over the past 10 years by a number of other conditions. As her daughter described it last night, she is now at a point where her body can no longer maintain the fight and the family has reluctantly accepted her doctor's recommendation to only allow comfort measures.

We anticipate that she will go home to the Lord within the next day or so. Pray that He takes her soon and without further suffering. Remember also her family, especially her husband, Paul, and daughter, Jen, who have been her primary caregivers for many years, as well as her Mom, her other children, and grandchildren.

"One day all our ethnic traits ... will have disappeared. Time itself is seeing to this. And so we can not think of our communities as ethnic parishes, ... unless we wish to assure the death of our community."

Prayers for Janice as she approaches the end of her earthly life , that her passing will be easy and free of all pain and suffering.

Prayers also for her immediate and extended family as they stay with her on this final journey

O Lord,
support us all the day long of this troubled life,
until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes and the busy world is hushed,
the fever of life is over and our work is done.
Then, Lord, in your mercy,
grant us a safe lodging,
and a holy rest,
and peace at the last,
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
AMEN
