She and her family have been really good friends to me since Raymond died - always there when I needed them , but never intrusive . Christmas Lunch is always with them .

Isobel is a Type 2 diabetic - but in denial about this . As a result she has had various medical problems - a triple bypass and ensuing very poor circulation in both lower limbs leading eventually to ..... gangrene in her right foot frown

Some 6 weeks ago she was admitted for a below knee amputation - and problems continued and 2 weeks later this was revised to above knee - which is healing well BUT the other leg is giving serious problems and amputation of that leg is now actively under consideration frown .

Please keep her in your prayers - she doesn't want this surgery but I feel it's inevitable . She is 75 and was still working in the family business every day until late summer when her health stopped this.

Prayers for Isobel--may God grant her healing to save her other leg, and inspire her to take better care of her health!

I've just had a phone call

Isobel will have an above knee amputation tomorrow morning .

The surgeon has impressed on Isobel and the family that without surgery she will die , and there is no guarantee that she will survive surgery.

Lord have mercy !

Dear Lady,

My mother had a similar amputation, also necessary because of her diabetes and advanced condition.

We join with you in love and prayer for Isobel!

Prayers for Isobel that surgery be successful and healing be quick.

Well - it's finally been done today .

On Wednesday all the prepping was done and for some unknown reason at 10.00 coffee and biscuits were taking into Isobel and ummmm - well the inevitable happened. This was discovered only when she was in the anaesthetic room and in answer to the question " when did you last have anything to eat or drink ? "

I've just had a phone call - she's out of theatre , seems the surgeons are pleased with her condition , she's not obviously in pain , and complaining as normal smile

I'll get an update tomorrow morning [ this is 20.25 ]

Oh Dear! I know this is so hard on everyone. Diabetes is a silent, cruel, destroyer of life. May the Lord's peace and healing pour forth in her life.
