Yes--this is wonderful news! I have posted some of his wisdom and miracles attributed to him in the past. Saint Paisios pray for us! In Greece, they are affectionately calling him: 'Saint Papouli' (Saint dear grandfather)-- It is common use the diminutive of grandfather for sweet elderly men in Greece.

I am hoping to report the canonization of Elder Joseph the Hesychast in the near future, God willing.

Alex Surprisingly....not yet...officially. But of course, he has been venerated as a saint for many years....by many people. You know us Orthodox....we don't need an official canonization.

Good for you then, is all I can say!! I suppose such a glorification is for purposes of allowing liturgical veneration along an ever-widening territory until it becomes universal. It is, after all, the way the Early Church glorified its Saints. Good for you . . . Alex

It is, after all, the way the Early Church glorified its Saints. Indeed!

Dear Recluse,
Any word of further glorifications of Athonite Elders?
Alex
