Well, the reasoning you write about seems quite obvious, and not only for myself, but for you as well: if the church identity is based on sole ethnicity (i.e.
Ukrainian Catholic, where Byzantine rite plays the role of an element of Ukrainian folk culture), every
non-Ukrainian Catholic option may be treated as equally "foreign". Ruthenian Catholic or Roman Catholic, what's the difference? They're both non-Ukrainian and English by language. So why don't choose the mainstream Church?
