The English are Celts, too. In fact, just about everybody native to Ireland and the British Isles is descended from the Celts, with only small admixture from the Saxons and Vikings, and hardly anything at all from the Romans and Normans.

The quote is from a letter written by Father Archimandrite Serge, of blessed memory, and quoted extensively on a page of the website of the Eparchy of Newton [melkite.org].

The Divine Liturgy in Irish Gaelic was first served, subsequent to its text being blessed by His Beatitude Maximos V, of blessed memory, in October 1999 - but that was in Dublin. I don't believe that it was as late as Halloween however.

Out of curiosity was anyone able to find the transcript of the Gaeilge Divine Liturgy? I'm searching it for it myself and have found some names that others have had success with emailing, but as I am a Celticist and currently an aspiring catechumen, it's something that I would really like to see.

I think I published a very limited edition (like maybe 5 copies) of this translation for Fr Serge way back then, when he received the approval of Patriarch Maximos. I would have to search my archives for an electronic version (yes, I still do have computers and electronic books dating from the mid 1990s!), and my private library bookcases for a printed version (I usually kept one copy of special editions like this).

Are you looking for the text, or a recording of the October 1999 celebration?

First I apologies for 1) posting to an old thread (some forums are picky about that) and 2) hijacking this one. Please feel free to berate me as necessary if I should have started a fresh one...

I am also interested in obtaining a copy of Father Serge's Irish translation of the Liturgy of St John Chrysostom. He once sent me a portion of his then unfinished translation many years ago - it would have been 1997, I think - and it brought tears to my eye's - good ones. Unfortunatley, I ost contact with him shortly after. I would dearly love to have a copy of the completed Liturgy. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be most grateful.

Father Archimandrite Sergius Keleher sent me a copy of the Divine Liturgy in both Ukrainian and Irish (it has an icon of St Patrick and Blessed Nicholas Charnetsky on the front).

cIf you connect with St Kevin's Oratory in Dublin, they would doubtless send you a copy.
