May Ernie's soul rest in peace. He was able to attend our Divine Liturgy once last year at St. Anastasia Byzantine Catholic Community. Even though he could barely see or hear he was very happy to celebrate the Divine Liturgy in the form in which he was raised. He gave us pictures of his father who was a priest that we are keeping in our collection. Our priest, Fr. Ramon Gonzalez is also the chaplain at the Incarnate Word Village where Ernie lived and knew him very well and was able to serve his needs in his last days. It was a blessing that priest with a deep understanding of the Eastern Church was there for him at the end.
Our community has given special recognition to Ernie's uncle,BISHOP-CONFESSOR PAUL P. GOJDICH, who is in the process of being canonized. It was wonderful to have a link to this saintly man through his nephew who was also a holy man.
