I'm requesting prayer for my great niece, Nieva "Ava" Rebecca Boer-Breuer. She's 4 years old and been battling leukemia for two years. She was three months away from her final chemo treatment when she got exposed to shingles and as a result she has chicken pox all over her body, in her mouth, throat, and lungs. Very bad since her leukocytes were destroyed and she is having a hard time fighting the infection. She entered the hospital a few days ago in horrible pain. Hurt to move, go potty, and eat--and so she didn't eat. Two days ago she went into respiratory failure and went on a ventilator. Last night she maxed that ventilator out and was put on another one. iF that doesn't help, parents must make a risky decision to transport from Sioux Falls, SD to Minneapolis where there is a machine that would reroute the blood to bypass the lungs, but that's not really ideal for a child with low immunity. It's basically a last resort. The family's in such agony, especially her parents Amanda and Jordon. We've been praying, begging God to spare this brave, feisty, lovely girl. We only hope that the immune system will build up so the infection can be fought off. I beg for your prayers, and for the prayers of your faith communities. (Her names pronounced Knee-ay-vah). This kid has been through more in her short life than most adults I know and she's faced this last two years with the valor of a soldier.
Lord Jesus, have mercy. Mother of God, pray for her. Sts. Peregrine, John the Wonderworker, Nicholas the Wonderworker, Pio, and all ye saints, pray for a miracle for our girl! Amen.

UPDATE: Nieva is off the ventilators and breathing with the help of an oxygen mask. Lots of healing still needs to take place in this little girl. Her internal lesions left behind some yucky gunk that needs to be coughed up. She's showing some signs of responsiveness and even spoke. The doctor warned she will be crabby and delirious when she fully wakes up due to her king through withdrawal of the powerful drugs she's been on. She still isn't done with chemo. Please continue to remember Ava in your prayers. I'm her great uncle and on behalf of the family I thank you.
