Hello Everyone;

Does anyone know if there are any Eastern Catholic communities or missions in Ecuador? Someone told me there was, but I have not been able to find any information concerning it.

Thanks;
Stefan

There's some sort of Syriac Orthodox mission and I believe Antiochian mission - however, many of these 'members' are recent converts from evangelical, pentecostal, tribal, and made up belief systems, including the clergy. Because of this, their worship may be scandalous to you. Just be careful where you tread.

In fact, sometimes this is how the early signs of growth of a Church begin.

The "Evangelical Orthodox" were like that. They were Protestants who came to the conclusion that they wanted to join the original New Testament Church. They adapted a lot of things to their American life-style e.g. baptisms in swimming pools during barbecue get-togethers and the like.

They then came to the further realization that they were not really "Orthodox" and approached the Antiochian Orthodox Church - which was generous enough to allow them the right to introduce certain elements from their Protestant/Pentecostal traditions into the Byzantine liturgical tradition.

It is like the way our Lord Jesus Christ healed the blind man who first saw "men as tall as trees." He later received regular vision.
