Do you play Billy Joel-The Piano Man ? If so I find the ability to play or even just reference Billy Joel a major benefit to clergy. It is a tragedy that so many Clerics are unable to communicate to their congregations. The level of Pop Culture illiteracy among the clergy is staggering. We need more preachers who know top 40 70's/80's as well as how to pronounce the book of "Job". laugh

LOL is right. I have to share a tale about my brother who is a priest and a college grad from the late sixties.... Last year, his beloved dog, Molly, died at a ripe age of sixteen or so. A few months later he got a puppy of the same breed and proceeded to name it Maggie Mae. My wife and I were stunned as we never had any idea that he was aware of any music newer than say, The Kingston Trio.... So I asked him, how come I never knew he was a Rod Stewart fan. Who's he, he answered. He named the dog after a character in some A.A. Milne poem, not the song. That's a cultural reference that would zip by most of us... (p.s. He doesn't read this forum so I am safe...lol.)

I did play that song, yes!

Learning to play the piano strengthened my own faith as a Catholic as it taught me to see things in black and white . . .

Very nice - but the Rosary of the Virgin Mary is simply an exact copy of the RC form with no real Byzantine input.

The best example of the Rule of the Theotokos in a Byzantine setting is that of St Seraphim of Sarov.

(Also, the Rule of the Jesus Prayer is poorly explained including why 300 Prayers are said and what this represents in terms of the Psalmic kathismata).

Free and highly accessible works for me too!

I myself prefer the 20 mysteries of St John Paul II and, for my money, Prof. William Storey has done a masterpiece in his book "The Complete Rosary."
