I would like to ask all reading this to pray for me, unworthy protopriest Andrei. His Grace, Bishop Longin, has asked me to assume the position of temporary administrator for St.Stevan Decanski Serbian Orthodox Church here in Warren, MI. It's a much larger parish than the small Serbian Church of Holy Ascension which I have served the past seven years. There is no Serbian priest available, so I hope with God's help to do the best I can. We use Serbian,English, and Slavonic in the services. Sermons out of necessity will be in English

May Our Lord Jesus, through the intersession of His holy Mother, grant you the grace to undertake this new assignment. Does this mean you will have two parishes or will a new priest be assigned to your current parish?

The Lord Bless! Actually, the two parishes have been one for some time,so I will serve both. The sad fact is that Bishop Longin is probably going to close Holy Ascension in the near future.Right now,a deacon is doing Reader services there on Sundays.

Our life, personally and collectively, is only fulfilled as we enter into the Paschal mystery.
The many "little deaths" throughout our life prepare us for our final and fullest engagement with the mystery which gives us Life.

Father bless!
Why not learn some Serbian? Get a good college level Serbian grammar (get one that actually has grammar) and learn in 20 minute increments (that is about all that the mind can absorb at a time --it is how Sir Richard Burton, the explorer, learned many languages). I am sure there are resources on the web, or a Serbian language learning program on whatever the Serbian state radio is.

Bless, Father! Either way, I'm sure your parishioners will be very well "Serbed" by you! Alex
