There is no structure other than occasional glimpses heavenward, too many distractions, a sip of joy on Sunday mornings then a week worth of dryness. Not enough, I am parched. I need to find a spiritual director, I need help overcoming this. Lord, hear my prayer. Thank you.

Yes, find a spiritual director. A good place to start is to ask your pastor.

As to spiritual dryness, the first thing a spiritual director is going to teach you is that you should have no expectations whatsoever in prayer. You are certainly familiar with Mother Theresa. She only felt the presence of the Lord in her life when she was very young. The spiritual dryness (the "Dark Night of the Soul") in her life lasted something like the last fifty years of her life. Just remember that the thirst for the Lord is a sign of His presence (though hidden) in your life. The only response is to continue to surrender your life to Him. And to have no expectation of anything (the spiritual dryness being normal).

Again, speak with your pastor. Only he can advise you properly.

Prayers....

Christ is in our midst!!

John's advice is sound. Anyone who has tried to pray in any form of regular fashion has had these periods. Go to your pastor, put yourself in his hands, and continue to fight the good fight.

Lord, grant your servant a sense of Your Abiding Care.

Every time you pray you are open to God's graces. Just because you do not feel it does not mean it is not so.
I found getting into a habit of prayer a good safeguard against letting my feelings do the thinking for me. Mornings and night time do it for me. Even if is is short, although making an effort to spend some time longer helps solidify the habit. One Russian bishop once said just so long as you say a "Lord..." in the morning and a "...have mercy!" at night is a good start. I think of it like having a meal. How can we live without eating? How can we exist without praying?
