My parish wants to acquire an icon of Pope St John the 23rd. I would like some of the members who write icons to contact me about the possibility of fulfilling this.

I am not talking about a small icon. The parish wants one for the wall of our Day Chapel and it needs to be large enough to be seen from our foyer--down a 15 foot hallway and through the glass doors of the chapel. I'm thinking of a size at least 35 to 40 inches tall by 24 to 30 inches wide.

Thanks.

Bob

PS: On another note, my pastor is on the mailing list for "Monastery Icons." Am I mistaken that this is the group that fronts for the men who became Hindu from Christian? Why does this stick in my mind?

Bob, regarding your P.S., Monastery Icons is still of questionable background. We had ceased ordering items from them for parish use some time ago. There has been a lot of traffic here on the Forum about them over the years. In fact, one of their "competitors", Aquinas & More Catholic Goods, has a blog entry entitled "Beware of Monastery Icons" that is based on excerpts taken from posts made on this forum.

Joe:

Christ is in our midst!!

Thanks. I thought the name rang bells when I saw the magazine. I do remember reading many posts here and that's why my antennae went up when I saw it. Now that you mention it, there were links to the group behind all this and they were far from Christian.

All the links for legitimate icons listed at the end of Joe's link are "blocked," whatever that means.

Bob, hadn't noticed that until you mentioned it. The host of that blog runs their own online shop. Perhaps that's why the hyperlinks to these other sites are not active.
