Prayers for all who will be deprived of the Sunday Eucharist because of the US east coast blizzard.
Some parishes have announced cancellation of services, other have sent Orthros materials to their faithful.
May this involuntary fasting from the Body of Christ increase their yearning for the Holy Mysteries!

Thank you for your prayers! The Front Royal Ukrainian mission was cancelled today for the first time--there was no way Fr. Wasyl could have made it. The Latin bishop of Arlington bluntly told people to stay home tomorrow--not that anyone could get anywhere anyway! About 40 inches here in Front Royal, I think. We may be able to dig out by Monday evening if we work hard at it.

This is the largest single-event snowfall that I can remember. Here in Fairfax, we have at least 32 inches of snow, with drifts over 4 feet in some places. I shoveled twice yesterday and this morning it looks like I haven't touched it yet. Nothing in my neighborhood is really passable yet. My parish sent out an email canceling all Divine Services this weekend. I'm going to wait for the winds to die down and things to warm up a bit before shoveling again. Today's liturgy will be via the internet!
Prayers!

Prayers for all those affected by this storm.
Remember one thing: this is but one storm; your life is more important than a clean walk or driveway. Don't try to overdo shoveling out. As the man who cleans my walks said to me yesterday, "It's not worth a heart attack over. We'll get there (cleaning out)."
My vehicle is frozen into an igloo in the parking space behind the house and the boro has yet to clear the alley so we can even begin to think of getting out. I'm sure that at 24 inches we are far less burdened than many of you.
As far as the Eucharistic fast, remember the Fathers who have told us this is the highest way we enter communion our Lord, but it is not the only way. We have Scripture reading, prayer, and almsgiving (random acts of kindness) as three other, less but still effective ways, to continue building that relationship of "coming into union."

It was also the deepest single-storm event in south central Pennsylvania.
Our Priest sent the link to the AOA Orthros on Saturday evening. We combined the on line variables with the Reader's Orthros published by Bishop Basil. At times we were juggling three different sets of papers but we managed.
