Can anyone tell me the current stance of the Ruthenian Church on ordaining married men to the priesthood? Does it vary by Eparchy here in the U.S.?

I've recently heard of a new married priest coming to serve in NJ from Eastern Europe. So I know this is happening but is there also an openness here in the U.S. by the Ruthenians to ordain married men?

I haven't been on here in a while so I"m sorry if this topic has recently been discussed and I missed it.

I think Pope Francis has opened the door. I think it's now up to your local bishop as to how things are played out. Check with your eparchial vocations director.

Yes, the Semianry accepts married candidates and several have been ordained and others have been brought over from Slovakia and Ukraine.

Thank you! I wasn't asking for myself but I'm happy to hear that the Ruthenian Church is restoring its traditional priestly praxis.

I pray this Church will benefit from this practice everywhere but especially here in the Northeast.

There's not much information on the eparchi pichal (sp?) websites regarding current affairs. I wonder, other than this forum, is there another site where one can keep up with developments among the Ruthenians? And of course the best would be to join a local parish but I haven't found one yet where I am ready to make a commitment to so I will just "pop" in on occasion to a parish not too far from where I live.
