Quote
August 21, 2017 – DECR Chairman Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk met at the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations (DECR) with the Holy See Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin who is on an official visit to Russia at the invitation of the Russian Federation Ministry of Foreign Affairs...

His Eminence also pointed with regret to some cases of politicized statements and aggressive actions made by representatives of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Ukraine. The sides expressed a shared conviction that politics should not interfere in church life while Churches in Ukraine are called to play a peacemaking role and help establish a civic accord in the country.

Assuming the statement is accurate, to which "politicized statements and aggressive actions" is His Eminence referring? I am not aware of any.

Did His Eminence also mention the politicized statements and aggressive actions made by representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine/Crimea?

Who is "His Eminence"? Metropolitan Hilarion or Cardinal Parolin? From the context (pace the headline of this thread), I suspect the former. However, the ambiguity in the article may be deliberate. I hope Cardinal Parolin is up to dealing with Moscow, but I do not feel sanguine about it.

Good point!
I had forgotten that Metropolitan Hilarion uses the title "His Eminence". It may well have been he who made the statement about the UGCC, but --as you pointed out--the article is ambiguous as to which "His Eminence" said it.

I've changed the title of this thread in light of this.

THre UGCC is the largest of the Eastern Catholic Churches, Yet, despite all the high-flung rhetoric, the Roman dicastries fail to treat the Eastern Catholic Churches as equals.
However, it is not all the fault of Rome, we need only look at ourselves and an episcopacy often afraid of its own shadow.
