That's fair. But I think the Latin Mass has too vocal of a minority, and they still have some strong advocates in the clergy. As soon as a "traditional" minded Pope takes office, I think the motu proprio will be rescinded.

Personally, I'd rather the latin mass stay gone (and all the baggage that came with it). I'd rather the novus ordo be done the way it's supposed to (rather than how it usually is in many places). Fixing the novus ordo would be a better path forward in the Roman Church, than rolling back the clock and expecting people to willingly embrace the latin again.

My argument has always been that if one insists on the Latin Mass in the 1962 books, then one ought to be living the entire context in which that Mass existed. In other words, all the fasting, all the regulations--including regular confession at least once per month--and all the other customs that were prevalent at that time. I don't believe one should be able to treat this as a boutique event.

But let's open a new thread in Town Hall to continue this discussion. We are far from the topic of this one.
