ACROD is the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese, which consists of formerly Greek Catholic parishes that reverted to Orthodoxy and are under the authority of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople. They share a common Rusyn heritage with the Byzantine Catholics.
"Stavropegion" refers to churches under the direct rule of a primate, such as a patriarch. It is comparable to the English phrase "peculiar church."
"Oikonomia" or "Economy" in church matters refers to bishops' prerogative to be flexible in the exercise of certain canons, where a rigorous approach would be deemed unnecessarily difficult.
