My mother-in-law of blessed memory had a recipe that she used on Fasting days: a variation of Past Fagioli.
She took a can of white navy beans with the juice, a whole stalk of celery, and five cloves of garlic. She softened the garlic in a non-stick pan with some water, added the beans with juice, and added the entire celery together with its leaves (rough chop). Simmer this for 20 minutes to half an hour to thicken. Meanwhile cook a whole pound of Angel Hair pasta and drain. Add the pasta to the thickened beans, celery and garlic. Add some red pepper flakes or banana peppers at the table to taste.
