I'm wanting to put together a research paper on the history and use of the Skufia. I'm hunting down icons currently to attempt to find historic images, but I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a book or a series of books that might speed me on my way. I've searched, but nothing has come up thus far. Thnk you in advance for your help.

I smiled when I read your post because it brought back memories of several years ago when the forum seemed to regularly find itself hosting long and detailed threads about such things as clerical garb, clerical headgear, honorific titles, episcopal regalia, and a variety of other form, style, and terminology based differences in various of the Eastern and Oriental Churches. I tried my best to track down a few of those that I thought might give you some start points. I did come up with this thread, which may be of some use:

You may also want to visit the website of the Phillippi Collection [dieter-philippi.de]. It is the personal and private collection of Dieter Philippi, an entrepreneur and CEO of a German telecommunication firm. It is the largest single collection of clerical heagear in the world, I believe, and is pretty fascinating.

Many years,

Neil
