Bless, Father Deacon Thomas!
During the Divine Liturgy, additional verses are added to the Ektenias asking for continued courage for the Ukrainian armed forces fighting to defend their nation and its people, for the safe return of the prisoners of war, for those whose loved ones have been killed or maimed in various ways and for those who assist the suffering, the hungry and the homeless as a result of this senseless and evil invasion.

Thank you....I have heard augmentations during the Great Entrance for "our armed forces in defense of peace and freedom" but not during the Great Ektania.

Then there's the prayer of the Patriarch of Moscow for those mobilized. Makes me think of the poet, Willam Stafford, who wrote in a little poem called "Religion Back Home": Our Father Who art in Heaven can lick their Father Who art in Heaven. Perhaps we just need to return to: "For the peace of the whole world, for the well-being of the holy Churches of God, and for the unity of all, let us pray to the Lord" Lord have mercy!

Prayers for the people of Ukraine to continue to endure for the peace that will see Ukraine wholly united, the invader repelled and their leader, Putin, brought to justice.
Lord hear our prayer.

We must also pray for the conversion of Ukraine's president and nation as a whole. That she turns back to God. Hopefully with so much bloodshed, especially by the innocent, the leaders of Ukraine will be humbled and turn from their antichrist agendas and repent. Hopefully some good will come from all this.

Todd4Tradition,
Are you serious? You think Mr Putin is doing God's work by bombing and killing civilians, with the Russian soldiers raping girls - including my young cousin???
How about we pray for YOUR repentance to stop supporting the new servant of Satan, Vladimir Putin??
Bug clearly Russia is on the path to defeat, her people is in disarray, her "orthodox" patriarchate is morally bankrupt and discredited and its leader will one day be tried as an international war criminal.
Alex

I never said I support Russia or Putin. When I mentioned Putin doing God's will or work what I meant was inadvertently. I'm not speaking of the agenda of Putin but about how God punishes nations for ungodliness to bring them to repentance. Like how God used others nations to conquer the Jews many times in the Old Testament to bring about their eventual repentance. Ukraine's president has been pushing an anti Christian agenda...homosexuality, transgenderism, abortion, etc. Why should it be hard to believe that God would punish said nation to stop the spread of evils and most importantly to bring about a nations repentance? We only see physical violence. What about the spiritual violence coming for Ukraine? I believe if the leaders of Ukraine publicly repented and vowed to turn their nation back towards Christ, God would end all this now. If this war ends eventually and Ukraine continues on the same path then no good came from all the bloodshed. I'm hoping something good comes from this. Sometimes things must be destroyed to be rebuilt stronger. I hope this happens.

Prayers for peace and an end to the war in Ukraine.
Since this thread has changed from one of prayer to one of politics I am now closing it.
Feel free to open new threads on non-prayer topics in their appropriate forums.
