Glory to Jesus Christ everyone, I'm new to the Byzantine Forum. My name's Bradley, but please call me Dan!
So I've recently rediscovered the Ruthenian Rite Liturgy earlier this year, having been involved with serving in my local Roman Catholic parish for the past 15 years. I was baptized Roman Catholic, and was Chrismated in the Byzantine Rite.
I was literally swept off my feet at how beautiful and symbolic the Liturgy was.
From the incense and hymns, and from the Great Entrance to the Mirovanije blessing afterwards, I was awestruck and am now attending the weekly Sunday night liturgy, as well as the Roman Catholic weekend vigil Mass.
My question is: Would using an Eastern Catholic bell incenser (Kadilo) be acceptable to use in a Roman Catholic Mass? I asked the priest at my local church and he seemed to think so, although he likes the single-chained one better; easier for him to use during the Mass. I have to agree with him 100%.
I don't support Latin-izing the Eastern Catholic Churches, they all should preserve their ancient, unique, and distinct way of celebrating the Liturgy, but on the other hand, I don't want to Byzantine-ize the Roman Church!
At any rate, every Catholic Rite is beautiful in its own way.
For all of you Christians of the True Faith, many thanks, and God bless!
Dan
