Christ is in our midst!!
I wonder why the Vatican is "red faced" when I recall an incident a few years back when the former Archbishop of Canterbury was allowed to do the same thing at another Rome cathedral. That account, as OI recall, mentioned that he had been given liturgical vestments, liturgical communion ware, and everything but his liturgical books.

I read that Anglicans have offered Vespers at one of the Roman basilicas, but have never heard that they were able to offer their eucharist. In any case, the Vatican seems upset that it happened at the Bishop of Rome's Cathedral and is calling it "miscommunication", which usually means someone's head is going to roll.

Christ is Risen!!
Utoque,
It's been quite awhile since I read this, but it stuck in my mind because we are in no way in communion. So if that was/is the case, letting them use everything in a church or cathedral seemed so obviously out of place. I had asked clergy of my acquaintance at the time and I got an answer that we were so close to communion that it was just good ecumenical hospitality. It didn't ring true then and certainly doesn't now.

this deserves another thread You're absolutely right. And I am as much to blame by responding rather than moving this to another thread. Bob Moderator

The real story is the profound ecumenical gesture towards Pope Tawadros II on May 10 and 14, 2023, and I will "thread" that under Church News.

A postage stamp recognizing the Greek Catholic history of the Pochayiv Lavra. Postage stamp for the 250th anniversary of the coronation of the Pochaiv Icon of the Mother of God![[Linked Image from osbm.in.ua]](https://osbm.in.ua/-/uploads/ua/00/02/09/10/page-1635951493.jpg) At the request of the Basilian Order, the State Enterprise "Ukrposhta" issued a postage stamp dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the coronation of the Pochaiv miracle-working icon of the Mother of God , which took place in the Pochaiv Basilian Monastery in September 1773. According to the custom and legal order of the Holy Church, permission and blessing for the coronation of the icon was granted by Pope Clement XIV , and it was carried out by bishop Sylvester Rudnytskyi , bishop of Lutskyi and Ostrohskyi. The postage stamp features a stylized image of the Holy Mother of God from the miraculous icon against the background of a drawing of the Pochaiv temple and monastery from a historical engraving by Fyodor Strelbytskyi. Above the image of the Virgin Mary is the inscription "250th anniversary of the coronation of the Pochaiv Mother of God", in the upper right corner - the Trident, the state coat of arms of Ukraine, which recalls the anniversary itself and the national affiliation of the shrine. Below, under the image of the Holy Mother of God, on the mountain there is the coat of arms of the Order of Saint Basil the Great, to the right of it the abbreviation UGCC, which means that the shrine belongs to the United - Ukrainian Greek-Catholic - Church, and to the left - the years of prosperity of the Pochaiv Monastery, which was the spiritual center of the Basilian order, the seat of the proto-higumen and proto-archimandrite. The composition is framed by a floral ornament that indicates the historical era of the event. Nowadays, the Pochaiv miracle-working icon of the Mother of God is one of the most revered Christian shrines of Ukraine, known throughout the world. Google translation of original source. What happens when the UGCC receives state permission for a DL in the Lavra and the same people who blocked the security forces from removing the Russian monks block the UGCC clergy from entering?

Ultimately, the rule of law must prevail in that case. The Moscow patriarchates has used those two Lavra's for state-sponsored anti-Ukrainian propaganda for long enough.
The priority now is to push the genocidal Russian forces out of Ukraine once and for all. Yesterday, the Russians bombed the city of Lviv hitting civilians buildings two blocked from where my cousins reside. They are in terror to say the least.
Out with the Ruscists first. Then they can deal with what I will dare call that "pseudo-church" the Moscow patriarchate (and Orthodox priests such as members of the OCA have emphastically told me that the patriarch who is a member of the Russian secret police, has excommunicated himself by fully supporting Putin's war.
I remmeber when member of this forum came after me for saying things against Putin. You know you are = please do keeping coming.
